No Cloud Dared Break

I once thought even the most lucid eyes

Through which the lover was seen

To be plagued still by the lingering lust

Of love once painfully lost

Yet not for one breath

Did I wear through your eyes

The ancient dress of the unsung lover

Whose passion grew never from soul

But from sight so rootless instead

Not for one breath was I reduced to time

No longer born inside your eyes

And through my own

Through my own eyes no cloud dared break

The utter light of your silence

As wakened they were

The wondrous eyes of a child

No longer lost in sleep
